Hi, HO Scale, modules based on European Fremo concept. Freelanced desert scenery with a small town and yard, still a work in progress. I've been modeling SP/SSW units for years now, but started on my modules only three years ago. Some pictures of modules and rolling stock at: www.pbase.com/reneknoop/sp_ssw_modelsAnd some videos of my favorite engine, SP's SD9 at: www.pbase.com/reneknoop/image/38765028/mediumRegards, René

Hi to all (few for the moment, but who know the future ) I'm living in Italy and ... I'm an Espee lover (sound strange?) I'm planning to build a layout on the Commute Line From the City ( SF ) to San Jose and partially model the Santa Cruz Mountains: that's are the places I well remember. Just discover this forum following a link on the Espee Yahoo group, and waiting some others fellow to discuss .... Have a click to my web site : xoomer.alice.it/enzo_fortuna/Home.htmSome layouts plans, research on the Bay area and Espee to download , Depots drawings, pictures and history, a Scratch building section with plans, and .... my models ( as well some parallel interest ) ..... I forget : I'm modeling in the "N" scale. Have my best from the "other side of the pond" Cheers Enzo Fortuna ( Milan- Italy)

I model SP in the 40-50s and the 80's in HO scale. I don't have a link yet, but some of my work is on Richard's site and at proto meets.

Just messing about with some chalks on a stock HO Scale Bowser ACF covered hopper car... trying to get some ideas and develope a technique with the stuff. Here is side two of same car.... I hope this forum gets off to a good start; I'm just now starting what I hope is my last layout...building a 18' x 14' sized layout is harder now than it was 30 years ago. Although the railroad itself is a freelanced thing, based on my own Arizona Southern RR, featuring Arizona and New Mexico themes, SP is the major interchange partner; at least on this side of the border. The period is set back in th 70's, but with nothing to date this pike, changing vehicles and trains will be the only real way to establish era. I also model transition era SP and have some equipment for the mid 60's....each era has it's own charm. John Huey

Hey Enzo, I model the the Coast Line in 1957 (more or less) in HO but love Italy. Lived there from 1989-91 and again in 1994-95, Was in Milan (briefly) in the summer of 06. Hope to be back in a few years. My layout can be seen at trains.pattisonnet.netbeware, many of the pictures are large and take a long time to download on a slow connection. Jim Pattison

Hello all! Modeling the SP through Pinole, CA in N scale. Will also have Stockton Interlock. Right now I am working on detailing my small fleet of SP power to SP standards.

Jim Pattison Hi Jim, I've a look at your models: great job! Italy is a lovely country (Milan not so much: is a dirty business city!) and so peoples.... seams Californians! I've lived during 1974-1985 mostly just one mile south of Felton up on Santa Cruz working in the valley during the "heroic" times of the first Personal computers. Having commute daily from SJ to Palo Alto, and Sunnyvale I dream to recreate here a miniature world resembling my favorite places in my youth (I'm not so old : just 55!) During my layout design research (not already steady defined jet!) another alternative I've considered was also the San Louis Osipo (mountains and coast) and the Pacific Coast Railway narrow gauge line... but my love was in the peninsula and the Santa Cruz mountains, so ... I'm still trying to shrink these places in my cellar. Occasionally I take business trips in US (usually east coast unfortunately) but, feel free to contact me if and when you will land in Italy. PS: to SP9811 ... my compliments: this forum software is great! And seams this place is attractive for lot of good peoples too! Cheers Enzo Fortuna

I'm living down here on the ex-SP Llano Branch that runs between Giddings and Llano, Texas. Originally the Austin and Northwestern (3' gauge) Railroad, then Houston and Texas Central (4' 8.5" gauge), then part of the SP system (run as part of the T&NO), BUT not owned by Borg.
It was bought by Capital Metro, Austin's transit authority in the 1980s, when SP wanted to get rid of it, and operated first by RailTex as the Austin and Northwestern with high hood Geeps and SW-whatevers, then by Longhorn Railway (Geeps, U-boats, etc.), TGS runs it as the Austin Area Terminal Railroad now, with MP15DCs, GP40s, and SD40-2s. I like those six-axles. ;D Leasers, too, like GATX SD40-2s, and LLPX SD38-2s.
Austin Steam Train Association runs excursions over the line from Cedar Park to Burnet, originally using ex-T&NO/SP Mk5 #786 (undergoing repair), and now using ex-ATSF/Indiana Hi-Rail RSD-15 #442.
If I were to model the Espee lines, that's what I'd model, as it's what I know, but I am more of a Mopac guy, so currently I model the ex-IGN/MP line through Austin, though on my next layout I am modeling a freelance Texas-wide railroad as it could've appeared in West Texas in the 1950s, being partly owned by the MoP and the ATSF (actually GCSF), in N-scale.
