This news was indeed a huge, and welcome, surprise. I have a brass model that is detailed and decorated in the as delivered number of 8500 (which is great when its the mid 60's on the layout). Now I plan to build one (or two) in their "late in life" versions, to run between LA and West Colton in drag service. Now, if Athearn will retool their DD40 and make a proper DD35, I'll be in hogger heaven.  |
