Thanks very much Scott for the kind words. Trust me, I've seen plenty of shots better than mine in the past and I entered a shot just to be part of the competition regardless of the outcome. Darn it Herb! I can't compete with that. Thats a great shot!

Another great shot John! The 4449 is always great to catch under steam!

Sorry for pulling the big orange tea kettle pic, but the more I looked at it, the less I liked it. This one has nothing to do with SP's steam days, it is all about September of 1981; this one has everything to do about the SP I remember chasing before it began to self destruct.
Win, loose or draw, I hope you all like it as much as I do.Heading for Mojave on 9/18/1981 © 2009 John Huey

Another great shot John! The 4449 is always great to catch under steam! Scott, I moved said photo to my SP steam gallery, sptco.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=steamx&action=display&thread=628&page=1After posting in haste, I decided to go a different way; thank you for the kind words. Nice model photo! SP do live in your garage, that is for sure! Herb, Great pic dude, I love those two lead units too. I know at the time they came out I was not a huge fan of those paint jobs, but like the Kodachrome did, as time goes by, my hard heart softens a bit; nice job.

8581 east grinds upgrade at Woodford. Neat shot, but what is that on the point? An SD50? Former Grande? I'm just guessing, my STRAPAC book says its a SD40M-2, but those were made from SD45's, SDP45's and SD40's, with the SDP's being numbered in the 8600's. That is not a SD40-2 length carbody on a SD45 frame is it? I see no porches to help me figure things out. I hate all that monkey motion with body and frame swaps, even my SP Compendium is not much help. Great shot though, I like the misty qualities of the exposure; mine was taken with zero humidity...trust me.
