During the NMRA Convention in Portland, OR in 1994, a friend had flown up from California and stayed with us in McMinnville. It was a good chance to show someone around the area as well as an excuse to do a fair amount of railfanning. On 08.14.94 we were at UP's Albina Yard and saw 2 brand new SD40M-2's that were being spotted for the SP. It was just about the end of daylight for the day, and the clear coat really lit up just as the sun was about to disappear. It reminded me of those chrome-plated Tyco models of long ago Regards, John

Looks like a fresh repaint. Anytime you can catch an SP unit in paint that pristine,it is a moment to savor!
