If those of us who frequent this board only share one bit of unshakable inner knowledge; its that fact that nothing good lasts forever. Case in point, Taylor Roundhouse. Remember those shots I posted a while back for my old pard Gerald Docken? Here's a link: sptco.proboards107.com/index.cgi?board=steampics&action=display&thread=479Well, here is a related picture, taken just 5 or 6 years after the final steam runs on the SP. Who would have thought that things would change so much in just a few years? Of course, not a single remnant of that massive RR yard remains today; its almost like a hundred plus years of L.A.'s RR history never even happened. Good thing we have our books and the web. I spent a lot of midnights hostling engines at that roundhouse when I first started out as a fireman. Setting the handbrakes on each engine and throwing chains under the wheels and slipping on puddles of leaked oil on the the locomotive running boards. Looking for a spare reverser or an automatic or independent brake handle. The excitement of taking your first consist to the 'Shops' or 'A yard'. Hard to imagine it's gone!!! Thanks for the pictures!

Glad to be of service, please tell us more Jim.
Oh, I said nothing remains in my initial post, well that is not true. If one rides the Metrolink through that area, and knows where to look, you can see some of the old road and both turntable pits (at least as of a few months ago), as well as other odds and ends.
