 The World's Fair Daylight departs Santa Barbara with Southern Pacific Daylight #4449 in charge of the westbound special. March 21, 1937 marked the inaugural run of the westbound Coast Daylight, Train #99. June 19, 1984 marked the final "unofficial" run of Train #99.

Santa Barbara was always one of my favorite depots. Add the 4449 to it and I can't find the words for it.

First off thanks for leting me join this fourm! Second I was born in Cal,thrid I used to work for SP at the Roseville yard and PFE ,And last I used to live in Ventura.And could see the Railroad along the coast,and can remember the day lite ,an rode it a time or two with my Grand MA!!
