It seems that amongst many of the F9m photos I have seen, the SSW RSD-15's seemed to be in the lashup along with them. That of course was good news, since I had a pair of the big Alco's in my stash drawer.

After the RS-3s and RSD-5s were retired the RSD-15s became mechanical orphans on Cotton Belt's nearly pure EMD roster. They were all gone by the early 1970s, retired before their 15 year depreciation cycle was even complete!

I have seen several photo's of RSD15's in lash-up with a T&NO F9m, so these were built to run with that. My F9m is in the "Halloween" paint scheme, so that is intended to represent that era.

The Cotton Belt's gators had trouble with overheating and were soon demoted to secondary freights, which by the 1960s were also where you could find quite a few F units. Three were wrecked in 1970, three were sold to GE in 1971 and the last four were sold in 1972. Data from Cotton Belt Locomotives by Joe Strapac.
