Having just received its new number, black widow GP9 #3491 is getting ready to leave Newhall Yard in San Jose trailing three GP35's, two of which are Cotton Belt units with their yellow hand rails. It is April of 1966 and train numbers are still displayed.

Drew: T&NO upgraded some F3s to the F9s in you photo. Cotton Belt upgraded its FTs, but not its F7s. Ed An A-B-A-A set of former Cotton Belt F-7's, now upraded to F9's arrives at Newhall yard while passing under Highway 17 in May of 1966

Great shots Drew. I just wish I could walk out the door at my club and see Newhall the way it used to be.

Wow, what a great set of pictures, thanks for sharing them. Sure did bring back a lot of memories from when I was a switchman here in El Paso as on occasion, some of the older stuff would show up in a consist and it, to me, was a real treat to see them still doing their thing.

Hey Drew,
Any reason you don't post pics here anymore? Your pics (and presence) is actually welcome here unlike That Other site.
