SP leads ATSF through Cajon Summit With Fall snows coating the San Gabriels, Southern Pacific SD40T-2 #8336 takes the point position on this eastbound Santa Fe freight past the Summit crossovers in 1987.

Fall colors are sometimes hard to find on the Cascade Line because of the vast stands of evergreens, but on a late September day in 1987, the red and grey of SP 9402 West finds daylight at the rockshed at the west portal of Tunnel 7, a 3164' black hole. Regards, John
