SSWs only GP7 304 was sold to ICG in February,1973 and upgraded to a GP 10,number7986.Does the new IC,now CN,still own this unit? If not who was it sold to,and does this unit still exsist?

I believe it was sold to the MidSouth as part of that IC spinoff. Will get back when I find the data.

John good question about whether it still exists. I cannot trace it beyond about the year 2000. The unit was MidSouth #1005 then went to KCS as #9005 then sold to Mississippi-Tennessee Railnet then to NRE. There is a Michael Palmeri note on LocoNotes that it was to go to Tishomingo 222 from NRE, but that unit TISH 222 appears to be a later IC GP9. I can't trace the unit past NRE. Data from LocoNotes and The Diesel Shop. Anybody else?

This may be what is left of SSW 304. It emerged as Railroad Switching Service 1005 from NRE Mt. Vernon. See www.erixpix.com/indust/company/rssx/roster/rssx1005a.jpg for a photo. As you can see from the photo the unit doesn't look much like a GP7 anymore. The unit is supposed to be at the Proctor and Gamble Plant in Ivorydale, Ohio just North of Cincinnati. Thanks to Elden Baker on the Cotton Belt Facebook Group for the info.
