This area was called the Cornfield, there was ag here many moons ago, but I feel it was more to do with once a loco entered, it was never seen running again... 1978 © 2009 John Huey Photo

Enjoyed your photos. Live in Palmdale, I get up to Tehachapi a couple times a year to railfan with a brother of mine. Yes, that area has changed a bunch over the years.

Looking through what would have been the west end of tunnel 3, the daylighted tunnel 6 cut, can be seen across the valley at the left edge of this photo. Here is a 45T-2 shoving uphill just a few hundred feet short of the same spot as the pic above.Milepost 360, about half a mile west of the Tehachapi depot; the lot accross the street is right next to the Best Western on what used to be the edge of town. Go check that view now! Crazy what can happen, even up there, in 30 years. Pic taken July 4, 1980.Added 8/31/2008Eastbound SSW 9153 at Woodford; May of 1980.Added 8/31/08 at 8:40pmWalong on July 4th 1978.Added 9/1/08 11:25amWalong on May 28th 1980; the Mojave Flyer is heading eastward, there are some Kerr McGee LO's and 2 Carbon black cars in tow as well; even I can guess where its headed.Added 9/1/08 2:03pmIf you stood at this point along hwy 58, what you see that is not yet in this photo?Taken east end of Cameron in September of 1981.Okay, it ain't my photograph, other than my owning the original, but its a really neat pic and needs to be seen.Added 12/10/2008 @ 7:58am
I'm a new railfan and I don't know the locomotives very well yet. Is the photo above some of the 10 ALCo RS32's?

Been gone for a while it seems. Like a year or more; wow. These are RSD12's, RS32's were 4 axle units.
