Sort of over-looked by most SP modelers and real railroads as well, when you think about it; the SD35 was a powerhouse in its own right. It would be impossible to model Tehachapi in the late 60's thru mid 70's without some of these.
Here we see SP 6910 near the end of her revenue service; after a prolonged period in storage, she is sold to Chrome Crankshaft in December of 1982, and scapped by Purdy Metals in Mojave by the end of 1984.Picture taken in April of 1980.

Great shot John! I have one of these girls in "N" scale. I did a pair of them. Should have done a little more research, as Atlas but a raised dust bin on it and the Espee units had the flat ones like the GP35's. Oh well, great shot John!

I was going through some of the missing slides that I found recently and spied this image taken mid 1981 at Colton Crossing; here we see two unrebuilt SD35's doing the job that once belonged to the Alco Centuries. Now these too have come to the bottom of the food chain...1981©2008 John Huey Photo
