I guess I need a place for older Geep's to live, so I'll start with one of my favorites, the GP20. Near Industry Yard in June of 1978.

Here we see an early style GP9 leading a later carbody version. While the lead unit came in Black Widow paint upon delivery from EMD, its younger sibling was, unless I miss my guess, delivered in the Bloody Nose paint. Here is the coming at ya pic, just found it today!Added 09/03/08 6:12amMay 1980

Wednesday March 21, 1973 and the Commerce-Greenville Dodger is getting its train ready to depart Commerce. The GP9E was rebuilt the previous year. Commerce saw quite a few GP9s while I was there 1972-73. They worked the locals to Greenville and Sulphur Springs and on the through trains as needed.

Terry Kirkland graphed this Espee GP20 working Commerce Yard. The unit is using the remnant of the old Sherman Branch as a switch lead. The pickup truck is waiting for this move to clear Pine Street so it can go into town. Empty cotton wagons are in the left background and the old freight station is still standing to the right of the photo.

Can't have an assorted SP Geep thread without a GP35; that just would not be kosher!Taken at Taylor Yard in August of 1978...OMG!

The once mighty GP9, a mainstay of SP's freight pool for decades, has been downgraded to switcher service; that just means a new number and FRA switcher steps on the pilots. While I was cleaning up this image. look what I found on the frame...
