With all filming sequences for the movie "Tough Guys" completed in Southern Pacific's Taylor Yard facility, #4449 and her short train are ready to head east down the State Street Line in 1986.

Nice clean shot of the train. No foamers in the foreground!

The decision was made to delay the eastbound departure which would have created quite a stir during the morning commute to downtown LA as the tracks run in the median of the San Bernardino Freeway. There may have been some foamers around that just got tired of waiting for her to leave.

Hi Thom, thanks! Can I have just one more scan? After I took this shot, I ran to my car to catch up with the train and managed to record some pacing audio just as the Stalight and the #4449 passed one another. Great whistle effects from one to the other.

;D Ok, one more postcard scan! I wish there was an easy way to get audio into a computer. I have been using a mic with a tape player to get audio in, not the best way.

Very nice shot!!
Wasn't there a fence that was later than 1986 put up between the main and San Fernando Road?

I have quite a few cassette tapes of railroad audio that I'd love to burn to CD for archival and digital upload purposes. Depending on your computer's interface, you may be able to use an audio line-in connection on your computer from your audio deck's line-out. Better quality than a mic!

Very nice shot!! Wasn't there a fence that was later than 1986 put up between the main and San Fernando Road? Thanks Gary! At one time, perhaps in the 40s-50s, there was actually housing where San Fernando Rd. is today. I imagine it was RR housing for those working Taylor Yard. The original fence was probably built then. IIRC, there was still a small amount of fencing separating the Mains from the road, but I doubt there was any new fencing after 1986. However...
