I was born with the SD9's of the NWP in Fortuna, CA, but Lancaster is where I grew up. Heres some of my memories of the SP high iron. In Kodak Plus X glory, SP 9786 east races across Lancaster Blvd. 8537 west 8257 west with the loaded sugar beets 270 west 8382 leads 10 units east..Kodak Plus X B&W 9768 east

Have you got any pictures of the Lancaster depot? I spent most Saturdays there when I was growing up. I lived in different parts of Antelope Valley from 52 thru 67. I wish I had a camera then as so much has changed. After the cutoff was opened in 67 the operators were moved from Lancaster to the old depot at Palmdale. About a year later, the SP built the tin shed station south of the old Palmdale depot and demolished the old depot. The Lancaster depot was destroyed in a fire to cover up a robber while I was in the Navy. I never did get a picture of either station. You can see some of my SP pictures on my website at www.carrtracks.com. Thanks for posting these pictures. John Carr in Dallas, Texas

John I never did get any shots of the station. But my shots above, with Lancaster Blvd. show where the station once stood.
