[glow=red,2,800] Howdy, I figured since I was able to finally decide on a slide scanner, and finally have it delivered; I might as well begin someplace, so I grabbed a 'sluff box' off the shelf. Sluff were photos of interest but with issues, like dirt or other issues that I did not wish to discard, hoping someday that technology might catch up to my short comings as a photographer; it finally has.
This slide was taken while the train was moving, and I was accidently on 250th/sec. Photoshop not only reduced the blur, it got rid of all the debris that had accumulated since 1980, sitting in an open box, but inside an old wooden drawer.
Geee, can anybody guess where I took this pic at, in September of 1980?[/glow] [glow=red,2,700] SP 401542 w/yellow lettering and no sign of a herald.[/glow]

Well, there were reporting marks and data stenciled at least, but this is the plainest SP LO I have seen to date. I'm thinking somebody wrecked one of the friendy's, and gave this to SP in trade; I guess that makes sense. Photo taken at Walong CA, in or about May of 1980.

This time, I see white painted stenciling under the consolidation stencils. This paint scheme is not supposed to exist, or so I have been told, but I bumped into it many times before ever photographing one of these cars. This one was sheer luck, but you can see several anomalies: White herald background, later black "skeleton-ized" herald, plus all the white stencil showing from under the gray paint. The big task will be trying to model this car, and all of its weathered features in HO scale! SP 400341 taken in 1978. Here is the same car, just the other side about a year later.

While no longer new looking, but a youngster compared to the PS and ACF rib sided versions, SP 490326 passes my location on its way to Bealville in late December 1979.

I like this kind of weathering; the lack of grafitti ain't bad neither! Taken 9/17/1980 at Walong.

Red lettering, with small red herald; a better lit version. This one in not an SP car, but you can't model SP around Mojave without a few of these bad boys. Both taken at Woodford in September of 1980.
