Terry Kirkland saw one Cotton Belt train 35 years ago today. This would be Terry's last day in Commerce for a while. He would return to visit, but not to work.

Cotton Belt Train Order Clerk Terry Kirkland began work at the Cotton Belt Depot in Carrollton, TEXAS on Friday November 1, 1974. He had spent the previous 10 months of the year working in Commerce, TEXAS. At Commerce it had only been the Cotton Belt running through there with the exception of KCS detour trains. At Carrollton three railroads crossed there at grade. There is a webpage with the layout of the trackage at Carrollton at www.towers.txrrhistory.com/077/077.htm . There were considerably fewer Cotton Belt trains running through Carrollton, but there were the trains of the MKT and SLSF to consider. Previously in Commerce I had only posted the Cotton Belt trains that Terry saw during the day in Commerce. Terry oft times went looking for trains during the course of the day at various TEXAS locations. For this two month stint in Carrollton I will also post the MKT and SLSF trains that Terry sees unless someone has a strong objection. Consider that Terry is a Cotton Belt employee protecting his employer's property when he rolls another railroad's train through the plant at Carrollton. If someone cross posted these spots to the MKT or SLSF lists that might be a good thing to do. It is highly likely that Terry had moved back home to Grapevine, TEXAS during this time. Terry Kirkland saw three trains 35 years ago today. One was a Cotton Belt train and the other two went past his work station and crossed Cotton Belt tracks. Friday November 1, 1974 Carrollton, Texas MKT (23) SW1000M* 4 830 am SLSF (507) GP7 8 1220 pm 17 (SP 8755) 2 U33C 66 1242 pm * What Terry lists as an SW1000M is an EMD repowered Baldwin Switcher.

Terry Kirkland saw one Cotton Belt train 35 years ago today. It looks like Terry went for a drive and found himself in Commerce. Maybe he had an errand to run.
