Yeah, the same is happening to me---they showed up after I posted them, now nothing. Seems to affect everything I have posted, and just started yesterday.

What is really weird is if I grab the URLs off your pics from the PROPERTIES window and paste that in the address bar and then open it, when I hit the back button, the pic appears as it should...until I close the browser down, and then it all reverts to the broken link image. There is some tiny diff in the URLs real addy and how it posts; somehow the website parses the URL to keep their bandwidth lower. I had the same problem with LocoPhotos dot com and stopped using them as an image hosting site (it seems the snootier the site, the more anal they are over this unsanctioned use of their site...FOTGET its our pics that drive them their traffic). All your Flicker pics come through perfectly for me. I have yet to have any such issues at Railroad Picture Archives dot net or Photobucket either...even my space is holding a couple of images I use somewhere or another. You are (I'll bet ;D) the first contributor to use that hosting service, and the www.railpictures.net administrator noticed a big influx in this sites referring hits; they saw what you were doing by following the trail, and added the code breaker to thwart your doing this; but that is just a big old guess on my part. Some geeks have nothing better to do than keep their domains tweaked and balanced; maybe get the ADMIN person over there a significant other to keep them busy and soon the links will work again ;D (they need to make like an egg and get L___ ).

<snip> Sept. 17th 2006 (5 days away from my 60th b'day) I see we are 10 years and 4 days apart in the birthday department...so far this one is busted: www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=170525and this one works: www.railpictures.net/images/d1/7/6/0/6760.1167922800.jpgthis one I got by right clicking your image and selecting properties and copy pasted your pics direct URL space. Upon further investigation this is the one that changes... The one link that worked initially went away and now I did some detective work and see why (I found this on their website): Finally, we ask that you do not directly link to photos on this website for use on other websites. This is an unneccesary waste of our bandwidth, and costs us money. I guess I can rest my case now...I should have gone to railpictures first and looked...

I am currently on pre-Christmas House Husband duty---I managed to avoid the draft in 1969 (blood pressure) but there is no 4F catagory here. Anyway, if I get discharged, I will try reposting to my Flikr (sp?) account and go that way. Evidently, some guys are having trouble with these same photos on the Altamont web page, so I must have gotten somebody's butt out of joint at Railpictures.

President Nixon saved my life, I went from 1H to 1A and was about five weeks out when he ended the draft; nobody better say nothing bad about him to my face. That was fortunate for the butt-head NCO that lost my paperwork, then gigged me to cover himself, and got my status changed all at the same time. It was good for all concerned ... now that I think about it; the good Lord was already busy keeping me in a full and upright position.

Geez, you guys make me feel old I turned 62 last May, been retired for 6 years and don't feel remorseful at all about not working. I just try to encourage the younger crowd to keep working all the hours they can so I can "Live Life to the Fullest!" My only regret is not starting to railfan seriously until the 80's Regards, John
